POLICE Concert'07

Yeah....finally 6th of October and it was time for POLICE. At first when we heard of the TOUR Dublin was not on the schedule at all and was driving a few people mad inclusive me as it would be a good crack to see, so kind of moaned a bit and hoped for their plans to change. Eventually, they announced a gig in Dublin for 6/10 which was totally cool and they day the tickets went on sale they were gone in just minutes...but I got two:-) Anyway, it took place in Croke Park...the biggest GA football stadium in Ireland with up to 82.000 ticket holders and luckily for us the weather was absolutely perfect for us all day with high sunshine and comfortable temperature and it kept for the concert. We could not have asked for better conditions.

We arrived at the doors around 16.50 and the doors would open at 5 and to our suprise there was an extensive queue of tickets holders by the gate waiting to get in and we saw no other way than get in the back...BUT, as we were holding “Golden Circle” tickets in our hands we were told to enter the row behind the long queue and to our exploding excitement....there was only 15 people in that:-) The golden circle is a half circle just in front of the scene and we got a beautiful spot in row #1 with no people in front except the security team and behind us the audience of 81.898 persons.

There was a support band starting at 7pm called FictionPlane, which was rather good and earcatching and would you believe it...in was Stings son’s band playing there. It was like watching Sting when he was young (of course I can only speak from videos and pics) They played their last song at 8pm and the scene got the equipment changed.

Police went on stage around 8.20pm I think and played all the classic once...obviously as they don’t have new once!, but it was great and they looked like they enjoyed it...guess they were happy to see their pay check:-) We were enjoying our front row spot, rocking, singing, playing paparazzi and clapping....it was terrific in our opinion.
Make sure you have a look at the pictures

Country Clare

Gone weekend I had my mother over for at few days from 26th to 30th Sept. We arranged a short trip to the west in County Clare which have some of the most magnificent nature I have seen:-) Miriam and I took off Friday from work, so we could depart from home 8am. We were on the road 8.30am and was hoping to avoid the traffic as I thought people was going into Dublin to go to work. To my surprise people were actually also going out of Dublin at 8.30am. We were sitting in a queue quite a few times until we reached N4 motorway that leads to N6 across Ireland. As we drove further west the weather seems to improve and it actually turned out to be magnificent compared to Dublin. 4.5 hours later we arrived in Doolin, a small old fishing town where it looked like most of the inhabitants had established a Bed & Breakfast....there was literally B&B's all over the place. We had a B&B address of our own, but had no idea where to go and the map we had in the car did not show anything other than the main road in Doolin. Anyway...in any town you will find several of pubs, even in a tiny village as Doolin. I went in to ask for directions and there was a lovely smell of old wood, beer and the atmosphere was good. Anyway, the woman behind the bare was in no doubt who they were as I guess they all know each other. We found our way straight after the information and booked us into the B&B straight away. The host did not have the room ready, but we just wanted to show our faces, leave a few bits and head for one of our goals of the trip. The Cliffs of Moher was only 5-10 min. away, so it could not be handier, so soon we were out of town and in between green fields divided up by stone fences and shortly we arrived at the car park of the Cliff's exhibition centre. They charged us a whopping 8 euro fee for parking the car, but then there was no additional cost. When we entered the centre we saw the exhibition centre and souvenir shops in the hills beside us. It was build into the hills for less disturbance of the landscape and looked really cool (see pics in album). We got a quick coffee first to settle my mom's and mine thirst and then heading for the edge of the cliffs. The area around the exhibition centre is all complete made tourist friendly with stone tiles and stairs to reach the heights. It was very magnificent to see and looked like what I have seen on pictures, but it is just so much better in real life. Those cliffs are so damn high and very special to look at. We went for a walk of the exhibition area for about an hour’s and did almost reach the 8km stretch of cliffs, but had to give up due to dangerous foot path. It would not be nice to slip and then fall 270m down into the water/rocks, so we turned around and walked back to the car and drove back to the B&B. We went back to get a small bit of rest on our beds and made yourself ready to go to the pub to catch some food and a pint. It was a very short session in the pub as all of us was very tired and I was feeling a bit sick and we actually ended up by driving to the B&B again by 9pm and then to bed:-) It was early...but my god I felt good Saturday morning and ready for the 2nd part of the trip...The Burren. The Burren is a very bare and rough area of Co. Clare buried under a gleschier long time ago and has developed a fantastic landscape in a puzzle kind of way for us to explorer. Fortunately the Burren was also very close to Doolin and we had to drive only 10-15 minutes to reach it. When we finally got to the Burren and thought we were right on track, we took a wrong turn and ended up in very narrow roads in a perfumery deep into the Burren between bushes, stones and mountains and was very cosy. We had a quick look at the perfumery where all the perfumes were made from flowers in the area and got our self a short media presentation in there as well. After this we headed for the correct road for the centre of the area. We saw in the presentation in the perfumery that the Burren contains 70% of the different flower species within Ireland and is funny to think about as this stone landscape looks so cold and dead. But when we parked the car and went for a walk we saw so many different plants and flowers growing up from holes in between the rocks, even the types we normally would have in the garden at home. At 1.30pm we decided to head back to Dublin by the coast as we had 4 hours drive in front of us and were in Dublin around 6.30pm.

See the pictures her!
